Progress

I'm just past the heel on my Knotty or Knice socks. Short-row heels don't fit my feet well so I am using my favorite toe-up sock heel, details in two posts here.





It's a toe-up gusset and short row heel, but with no flap. Fits my big feet very well. Try it, you'll like it!

Random

Scary couple of weeks with an ailing relative, a bad bruise from hitting the deer on my birthday, deadlines, travel and a broken dishwasher.

Check out this Flickr set which shows representations of different population groups - really, a visual history of world events - using grains of rice. I'm going to try to get down there to see it in person.

I wish

I wish perfume was banned in public places. Ten ways to know you're wearing just too much:

1. Spraying it into the air and walking into the mist.
2. Elevator stinks like perfume after you leave.
3. Clothing smells like it.
4. You hug someone, and they smell like you for the rest of the day.
5. You leave a trail walking down hallways (sort of like Pig Pen).
6. People can smell your perfume when they are outside of your personal space.
7. Babies cry.
8. Asthmatics start hacking and coughing after you visit.
9. You spray more than two little squirts of stink juice on yourself.
10. You use the deoderant, body spray, shower gel AND perfume in one scent.

People, please. For the love of all things good in the world, ease up on my lungs. Stop wearing so much perfume. Are you really afraid you smell that bad???

In other news, I saw The Grifter staring out a window at me this morning. She apparently lives with a guy in my building. I haven't seen her since Grady chased her and they had a fight. Maybe dude took her in.

Progress, on many fronts

I have decided that iPhone pictures look better if smaller and sharpened. To wit:



I frogged my Tour de France socks. Completely ripped. The gauge was just way too loose for the yarn, and I could feel every bump in my foot. So, why waste good yarn? Frog!

New project with this yarn is Knotty or Knice socks from the Fall IK. Love them, but they do require a lot of concentration from someone who has barely knitted all summer. Now that it's been crisp in the mornings (and I am going to Michigan this weekend!) I can handle wool again.

I have also learned that politics is a dirty business, that I passionately love L'Occitane shower oil, and that I don't feel like working out today.

KNITTING! An FO!

I can hardly believe it myself. :)





Socks for Mom, anklets, my own pattern, top down.
Size 1 needles, ShiBui sock yarn, color 1601 (more teal than this picture). On the second sock there is quite a bit of KnitPicks Gloss, same colour, knit every other row for about half the foot. I finished with about three yards of SB to spare. Whew!

I have some lovely yellow Louet Gems sock yarn (my absolute favorite) and a pattern from the Fall IK so hopefully I'll start those soon and not slack off from knitting another month!
