Weekend wrap-up
Had fun with friends Friday night, helped other friend move Saturday, worked Sat afternoon/evening, watched Titans KICK IT Sunday, saw Matchstick Men (totally fooled me, awesome movie), ate pizza and watched Superbit DVD of The Fifth Element.
I just love that movie's visuals. Super cool!

Also, was told at Walgreen's while refilling Retin-A prescription that am now "too old" for insurance to cover this one. So apparently teens can't have acne scars but us old folks can.
Sixty-one freaking dollars. Good thing I only refill once a year. I complained to Human Resources today...let's see if the (obviously new) pharmacy tech knew what she was talking about.
Grrr.
At any rate, switched to heavier foundation to cover damage Retin-A will do for the next two - three weeks while it starts working. Look forward to lots of peeling and red spots.
I have terrible, terrible skin.

Arrgh. Don't forget tomorrow is talk like a pirate day.
So, the pants. I've learned I now fit a 12 (even at Banana Republic, which is major victory over old Jen). But, I've also learned that out of 87 pairs I tried last night, I didn't find any I like. Same story - fit has changed, have no idea what to look for. Will take time.
In girls' pants hips look too big but love the fit in the leg. Waist as always is just hanging off me. In guys' pants - well, they look v good but wish they made flare khakis for boys. I mean come ON.
In other news, even the 12 at Abercrombie fit me, but they were so unbelievably low-waisted I (deleted because it attracted ads for wimmen's unnerthangs).
Face it, woman, am not 22 anymore. Am in thirties and women just look ridiculous wearing teen fashions at this age.
Sigh.

Krauthammer packs serious punch this week: In Need of A New Abbas (washingtonpost.com)
werrk
Will be working tonight until cows come home.
On second thought, am not actually sure what time cows come home.

Went for coffee with friend last night, then dinner with another friend and to Dyer Observatory to look at Mars. Atmospheric disturbance was pretty bad, but it was really bright and the night was crystal-clear. Lovely!
Woke up today and decided must buy new pants. Existing pants are starting to swim on me and look idiotic. Want two pairs of A & F khakis, same brand and style as now (wider leg is great) but 32 or 30 instead of 34. Also need jeans (ditto store and size). Why their guys' pants fit me better than any on earth is something I will never know.
This means spending $150 on three pairs of pants. But when you only have 3 in heavy rotation, that is not so bad.

Have just ordered ounce of French Lime Blossom cologne from Jo Malone. It really does smell great.

Monday
Well, did nothing Friday, cleaned house and went to see Under the Tuscan Sun on Saturday, watched Titans lose embarrassingly on Sunday and then went to see Once Upon a Time in Mexico (movie season is gearing up, and I want to be current for when Kill Bill comes out).
Got some French Lime Blossom perfume in the mail from Jo Malone, love it, will probably order it if I can figure out her price list.
In the iPod: Be Still My Soul. Be sure to listen to all the words.
No more Ben-Jen? What a pity. She's this generation's Elizabeth Taylor; compulsive marrier and fast becoming a parody of herself.

Another sad day: Johnny Cash passed away today. He was 71 years old and died of complications due to diabetes in a Nashville hospital.
Well, he's free. I should say he's gone to be with the Lord.
Lucky.

I can't even begin to express how lonely and sad I feel today. This does not usually happen. It's funny how you can be surrounded by people who love you and still lonely as hell.

From Miss Manners, a man writes who says a lady accepted a date with him only to call back later and say she'd decided to date his friend instead. How terrible is that? Well, at very least the man knows she's nobody to bother with.
Now why do people always think they can just randomly break social engagements? If you say you're going to go, go!

Hello, Random!
Ooooh. It found the polish. My ads changed again.
Let's see: Gerard Butler. What will it do with that??
36 # total. Ya-ya.
New TV. Toshiba with component video. Great picture. Ok sound. Must get next upgrade of a) audio cables and b) external speakers.
Didn't watch it much last night as fell asleep during LOTR. Will watch more tonight. DVD looks great with component video. I mean really amazing. I did not know there was an acid-filigree on Sauron's armor - face mask, gauntlets, everything.
That's all for now.

Tired...
VVV tired from Michigan but it was so fun to go. Kyle weighs 13 pounds, 12 ounces! At 9 weeks! He is height/weight proportionate, though, so just a big overall baby.
More later. Until then, visit my friends' blog -- he and his wife went to China to pick up their newly adopted daughter.
Where is David? Hm...

iTunes Music Store
Well, I bought the Down With Love soundtrack instead. Astrid somebody-or-other does a great version of Fly Me to the Moon. The movie is pretty much crap except for the costumes and the music. And an evening with Ewan Macgregor is never wasted.
The iTunes Music Store is so lovely. Click, download. That's it.
A bit dangerous.

Not so fast, To-mah-to!
I found the perfect toenail polish color tonight: Tomato from Bobbi Brown.
I painted my toes when Scott was over; he said it was a little dressy, but you know, every once in a while a girl needs red toes.
I'm finishing the laundry and beta-testing a game. Then will charge iPod and start packing.
Also going to possibly buy a Michael Buble album...or possibly Kings of Leon.

What I want: a pedicure.
That's it. Just a nice foot soak and massage, and a toenail polish color other than white. Doesn't even have to be expensive, although I don't want someone in a chop shop shaving my heels.

So, we've all been watching the so-called "Fab 5" and finally last night there was one show where they slipped a little. They remade a guy who'd lost 100+ lbs and had a serious problem with housecleaning. They did a GREAT job with his looks; new haircut, hair goo, great clothes, and even did a decent job decorating his apartment. The food & wine guy, however, had him shucking oysters (what is THAT?) and the culture guy did NOT give him any sort of ease in his club setting. He was supposed to teach him to dance. And the guy just couldn't do it in front of his gf. Now, maybe that's not the dancer's fault, but this was definitely Average White Boy dancing.
But man, did his new haircut look good. He went from Kramer to John Turturro in 1/2 an hour. They also whitened his teeth.
Vanity, darling, let's not do that ... yet. And no Botox before age 40 should be a federal law.

(Bridget seems to have left with Mr Darcy and I am wondering what kind of ad THIS will generate.)

So now there is a show on TLC that explores the truth/fiction behind urban legends. I caught part of one last night about the supposed alligators in the NYC sewers. Very sensationalist in nature, kinda cheesy, and they interviewed lots of "important" people...silly...the funniest thing was the guy who mentioned that alligators are cold-blooded and would never survive an NYC winter down in the tunnels.
And that sewers, possibly, might not be the best place to catch food to eat.
Yecccccch!

I just noticed there is a link to buy Bridget Jones' Diary and Pride & Prejudice at the top of my blog.
Guess they really do try to match ads with content!
What else can I mention??!

And, an update on the diet. Well, WW started a new system of points and it gives you more to eat. I lost 2 pounds last week with it. So it was true - I was not eating enough. I cut back on my workouts and upped my food intake. Yeah! :)
Ok, there is a man in my town trying to kidnap women - one at a gas station, the other out walking. He looks creepy, mullet-man with silver capped teeth. I am a little afraid to walk.
Scott told me to stay in my apt complex. Not v exciting, but I don't think I will go more than 1/2 mile away from home anyway.
work is not progressing v well today.

First, go to amazon.com and check out Kings of Leon. VVV cool band.
Next, go to Jo Malone and read about how to give yourself a REALLY great facial massage.
More later.
