mmm, Shaun Cassidy was adorable. But, and OMG this is embarrassing, I loved Donny Osmond. That big white-toothed wholesomeness. And I really thought, and this could be more embarrassing, since the Jackson family turned out to be freak-filled, that Michael was so cute and talented.
I must be a bit older than you, I actually liked Shaun's older brother, David Cassidy. He was the first "Rock" concert I attended when I was about 13. I also really liked The Osmond Brothers, the Monkees and Bobby Sherman! :)
Kathleen and I are apparently of the same Generation. My first overboard crush was on Bobby Sherman. (Gray fringed satin shirt and black leather hip-huggers...)
I was a little older and more sophisticated in my NKOTB choice: Jordan Knight, of course. I tried to convince myself to have a thing for Danny Wood, cuz somebody else loved Jordan, but the heart wants what the heart wants!!
Yeah, Shaun Cassidy was IT. There was a little flirtation with Rick Springfield and a small obsession with Loverboy that we won't discuss here. But Shaun fits the clear definition of the teen idol in my past.
I'm still a little surprised I didn't marry him...
Danny Bonaduce (Partridge Family days), then Parker Stevenson, then Steve Perry of Journey. Steve's the only one who still makes me all quivery inside (even as a middle-aged man). I mean STEVE as the middle-aged man, not me. ;-)
What could be more embarrasing than Saun Cassidy? How about David Cassidy? Swoon...... Oh, I would listen to those records of his over and over and over and over....and that dreamy shag haircut. Who could resist?
Oooh definitely Rick Springfield for me. I think I listened to Jessie's Girl a million times. He was completely gorgeous on General Hospital too. I had way too many dreams about that guy (blush).
Wil Wheaton. I can't think of any single fact about me that's more embarrassing. (Partially because it indicates I watched more Star Trek than anything else...)
Johnny Depp back in his teen heartthrob, 21 Jump Street Days. I had an entire wall in my bedroom covered from top to bottom in Johnny Depp pics from all the teenybopper mags! Actually, he's still #1 - the only man I'd leave my husband for!
LOVED Robert Downey Jr. and I was so sad when he started getting caught in the scary web of drugs. Always made my heart flutter a little when I saw him when he was younger. St. Elmo's Fire - still viewed in secret at my house.;)
Showing my age here... Paul McCartney was my first love. Gee, I might have another chance with him after his divorce! :D Then there were a few more, including Davy Jones. I'm with you, Jeanne... Steve Perry still does it for me. I won't go into the Barry Manilow thing. I'm about over it now. :D
Leif Garret! I had the album...."put your head on my shoulder..." I had the poster on the wall at the foot of my bed so it would be the first thing I saw when I woke up...
Alright,I'm in and I'm with carol - Leif Garret. I also really loved David Cassidy too and I sent a letter to Timothy Hutton inviting him to a dance once!
I'm afraid the older men were my heart throbs, too. The only celebrity who I ever hung on my wall as a teenager was Sidney Poiter. It was right after the movie, To Sir With Love. I was smitten!
I seem to recall a certain Peter Cetera poster that graced the walls of my room...but I didn't mind looking at my friend's Ralph Macchio poster back in the day, either. :P
Bo and Luke Duke were some major hotties. Also had a bit of a crush on Magnum P.I. And while I'm being honest, I had a Michael Jackson poster and remember telling a feriend I wanted to marry him. Yikes!
50 Comments:
Mine was Joey McIntyre from New Kids!
Kirk Cameron. Wow, that dates me.
Mine was also Shaun Cassidy. My mom even brought me to see him in concert when I was SEVEN!
I would never speak of it in my twenties, but now in my mid to late thirties? I find it amusing.

Johnny Depp of 21 Jump Street days. I remember ripping out pages from the teeny bopper mags and putting then up in my locker.
And he is still tops on my current list.
I can comiserate with you and will have to add Shaun to my list too. I had all his records and even went to a concert!
I think "Da Doo Ron Ron" will be in my head all day now!
Dirk Bendict, was enough to melt my heart. That come hither smile and perfectly feathered hair.
I must be a bit older than you, I actually liked Shaun's older brother, David Cassidy. He was the first "Rock" concert I attended when I was about 13. I also really liked The Osmond Brothers, the Monkees and Bobby Sherman! :)
Add another for Joey McIntyre! NKOTB was my first concert! I had to beg my mother to take me!

Jordon Knight all the way :) I watched an awful celebrity humiliation type programme because he was on it last year!
hmmmm... I'd have to sat Michael J fox.
What could be more embarrasing than Saun Cassidy? How about David Cassidy? Swoon...... Oh, I would listen to those records of his over and over and over and over....and that dreamy shag haircut. Who could resist?
Davey Jones of the Monkees. Oh my! Cute AND British - I practiced writing my name with his last name over and over in all my notebooks. ;)
I think I liked Treat Williams is that even how you spell it?
Oooh definitely Rick Springfield for me. I think I listened to Jessie's Girl a million times. He was completely gorgeous on General Hospital too. I had way too many dreams about that guy (blush).
Was and always will be johnny depp.
Mine was definitely Magnum P.I. :0)
I didn't so much have *teen* idols, but I had it in a big way for John Taylor of Duran Duran and Jason Patric from "The Lost Boys."
Jonathan Brandis of Seaquest. :) I'm a youngin', what can I say?
Richard Hatch - Mmmmm, Apollo. David Cassidy. Shaun Cassidy briefly, but I was all over those dark-haired boys.
LOVED Robert Downey Jr. and I was so sad when he started getting caught in the scary web of drugs. Always made my heart flutter a little when I saw him when he was younger. St. Elmo's Fire - still viewed in secret at my house.;)

OK. If I must. David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman.
Leif Garret! I had the album...."put your head on my shoulder..." I had the poster on the wall at the foot of my bed so it would be the first thing I saw when I woke up...

I was in love with Marty McFly...you know Michael J Fox in Back to the Future. Yumma yum.
Parker Stevenson. Always had a thing for older men.
I'm afraid the older men were my heart throbs, too. The only celebrity who I ever hung on my wall as a teenager was Sidney Poiter. It was right after the movie, To Sir With Love. I was smitten!
Shaun Cassidy, Donny Osmond for teens. For a bit older men Randolph Mantooth!
No Dukes of Hazzard fans? I adored Tom Wopat back in the day. And yes, I loved David Hasselhoff back in the Knight Rider days...
I liked 'em a little older. I wasn't much for the teenage boys back then.
I seem to recall a certain Peter Cetera poster that graced the walls of my room...but I didn't mind looking at my friend's Ralph Macchio poster back in the day, either. :P
Okay, The Partridge Family had me hooked. David Cassidy. mmmm. And then there was Davey Jones… That was a LONG time ago!
Honestly, my biggest crush was on Pierce Bronson when he was on Remington Steele. But River Phoenix... be still my heart. I was so sad when he died.
Jack Wagner, sigh.
Michelle
late teens do?
Franco Nero as Lancelot in Camelot the musical:)
amber in scotland
I can't comment from work! Sheesh. Gimme some time.
My teen idol, um, me not being normal and all - I had 2. Boy George and Weird Al Yankovic.
Yeaaah. I'm not much for gushing over the sexy men. I liked 'em for their talent. Clearly.
And here I was sitting around with this horrible secret thinking I was the only girl in the world with a Shaun Cassidy crush.
Wonder where he is now?
Definitely Johnny Depp!!!
I'm with myeesa, Johnny Depp. In my case specifically from his 21 Jump Street days.
Bo and Luke Duke were some major hotties. Also had a bit of a crush on Magnum P.I. And while I'm being honest, I had a Michael Jackson poster and remember telling a feriend I wanted to marry him. Yikes!
Shaun Cassidy, fifth grade, my very first album of my own. Sigh.
