Embarrassing
I was going to post this whole big thing about junior high and how embarrassing it was that I had such a mad crush on Rick Springfield, like he would have liked my orange-haired 1982 self, and then I remembered that he was also on General Hospital, so I looked him up, and I found this.

So, I know he's sort of aged like a rocker, but I am not embarrassed that my junior-high crush was him.

My Jr high crush was John Denver. And I was just certain he was going to marry me. I cried when I finally realized he wasn't going to.
In 1982 I had a major crush on my summer swim coach (only 3 years older than me). So much so that Jackson Browne was barely hanging on to the pedestal he was knocked off of.
Shut uuup! Loverboy was so cool. For their 15 minutes. I couldn't help loving Mike Reno, I thought he looked like Emilio Estevez.
Loverboy was WAY cool uh that is until I discovered Robin Zander from Cheap Trick. =)
I'm afraid it's Leonardo Di Caprio for me. Sounds cliche now, but there was just something about him.
I watched Romeo and Juliet the other day, and even though I don't lust after present-day Leo, I fell in love with the younger him all over again. My friends of the same age all confirm this - there is something about younger Leo that takes us back to being 16 and madly in love with the world. It's eerie.
AAhhhhh, thanks for the memories.......RS was my first concert ever, and I had a mad teenage crush going on too! (but that lead singer from Duran Duran was pretty cute too!) Now I've just moved on to another Austrailian hottie, Keith Urban!
Gawd, you guys are so young! :D It was Paul McCartney for me! My first true love. I was 12. I was devastated, years later, when he married Linda. Now that he's free again, maybe I still have a chance!! ;)

Well, at least you didn't have your first fight ever over him. My best friend and I were arguing over who was better, Rick Springfield or that other guy (the "Born in the USA" one). It got so heated that I punched her in the mouth. lol I guess in the end though, she really won. _Her_ guy is still holding on after all these years.
