Glad to hear she made it through the surgery well! I'm not too familiar with lung transplants... does making it through the surgery mean it was a success? Or will they have to wait to find out if her body accepts the new lung?
Hey, good question! I looked up the info. She's in ICU now, and then will stay in hospital 3-4 weeks. After that she will live in Jacksonville for 3 months and do transplant rehab therapy. She'll be on antibiotics for a few months because the immunosuppressive (anti-rejection) drugs really knock your immune system back. Then she'll be weaned off those and stay on the anti-rejection drugs, which cost a small fortune every month.
