Bear is Finished!

Yeah!!!

Tuesday, June 28, 2005

YES!!!

Nuff said.

Bear!

His other eye is done and now I just need to finish his right arm. For some reason his head looks a bit squshy or lopsided in this pic, but not in real life! I am trying to get the stuffing exactly right and should have straightened his ears up a bit. My styling skills with stuffed animals ain't all that! Final photo shoot coming up tomorrow morning!

Mom is in the hospital, probably as the result of a side effect to her antibiotic. Blurred vision. But could also be stroke. Hoping not. Of course. Also something funny on EKG. Many tests will follow. So anyway. Pray for her.

Cool Cakes!

I like the Hello Kitty cake myself.

Bear's head

I actually finished his head, his ears, his nose, one eye and one arm to the elbow tonight. But here's a pic.

Am starting final two rounds of Bear's head. Have legs done. Will post picture soon.

So last night I took Bear to a Codenames show and worked on him a bit. Am nearly done with decreases on leg 1. At one point the best light was coming from a beer sign! There's a song in there somewhere.

About half done with the big bad baby blanket. I am getting sick of it. I sort of wish I'd sprung for the Koigu, but I don't think giving someone a hand-wash blanket for a baby is quite fair, apologies to the author of the pattern. The cotton is really nice.

Also got the Spring IK and am going to knit the baby garter stitch kimono to match the blanket if I can just get cracking on it. I am not sure I can finish and ship all this by July 10.

Must remember to set up Flickr photo album so I can post some knit stuff. The pics I have at mac.com are really, really old.
Progress on Bear - finished shoulder shaping and knitted his bum. He looks much better. Hopefully I will finish legs tonight, before going to Codenames show.

TTFN
Allow me to drool.

I'm going to make the Cabled Shrug from IK fall issue in this yarn:

Malabrigo handpaints in "Paris Night" - $12 a skein, 7 skeins (that's for me later)

Love it!

Poor Bear

Have frogged first attempt at Baby Bobbi Bear. It was *ok* but not great. I am not looking for transcendence here - just something that doesn't look like "oh, she tried."

I did a terrible job with all the increases/decreases. That is not like me.

Apparently Kim and I had some bad sushi on Friday night, and I am still not recovered. I will spare you details...but I will not be ordering raw salmon anytime soon.

Saturday is my birthday, I'm 35 and it's really bothering me for some reason.

Poor Bear.

THIS is brilliant

I have been PLAGUED by this problem (will have to frog completely first pair of socks - wait, was that English?)...listen and learn!

Someone over at the Knitty board asked if it was weird for guys to knit. Hey, if I can play Halo and wield an assault rifle with ease, he can do anything he darn well pleases.

Just saying. I have fired an M-16, but the kick was a bit tough and the noise was a bit much. But I did it, darnit.

Oh, and

I really enjoyed Mr and Mrs Smith. Tonight I am going to the American Artisan Festival with Kim...maybe they will have some spinners or yarn there???

All I need is MORE YARN...
Just ordered two hanks of Pakucho cotton from Elann. Will make a hat. Color: vanilla.

Hope it's nice. Am also thinking about buying DB "Baby Knits for Beginners" book.
